I got a heads-up that the International Space Station would be flying overhead on July 18, 2018 at about 10:36 pm. So I set up with a 24mm wide angle lens on my Canon T3i. I mounted it on a stationary tripod and took a long single exposure of about 3 minutes.
In the lower center you can see the roof of the La Pine Observatory.
Very nice! A lot of things make this a great picture (the tall trees, the Milky Way, the framing of the ISS streak) but I think what makes it really grab me is that you recorded such a large chunk of the flight path. Whenever I shoot the ISS, I usually only take a 6- or 8-second exposure, resulting in a short streak that never quite captures the feelings that I have while I'm watching the astronauts freefall silently through the stars. Well done, and thanks for the artistic tips!
